UNCONSCIOUSNESS

In our system we often refer to the unconscious. This is actually a misnomer. There is a verbal part of our brain where we formulate and analyze words. This is our verbal consciousness.

There is also a nonverbal gestalt part of our mind that is in connection to much more of our environment. The reticular formation in our lower brain acts as a filter, to allow only the most important material to come to our verbal mind. There are over two hundred million nerve impulses coming to the brain every second.  There is also an infinite of subspace stimuli coming to our system.  The reticular formation filters out most of this and allows about one hundred thousand signals to reach our conscious verbal minds. Of these signals we attend to only a small number. The verbal mind makes up one per cent of one percent of one percent of one percent of our total experience. The verbal mind works by imposing a structure to emotions for proper expression. This means that its organization for verbal expression is imposed on its perception. So that what finally arrives to our minds is further twisted by our verbal minds.
So our verbal minds are out of touch with our total reality.

You touch a hand rail on a bus and you are exposed to millions of microorganisms. Your nonverbal self starts reacting and defending. The system is aware of even the most trivial exposure. The verbal mind can not handle it and would be overloaded if it was any more burdened.

Our patients often think that the verbal mind is all. They let the verbal mind extend its control. They think that if they would understand their health it would increase. Often times my patients are sick because they try to hard to understand their bodies and do not let the nonverbal system heal. The more you think about digesting your lunch the more your verbal mind will interfere and digestion will be compromised. Healing and reactivity is not for the verbal mind.
Our society has referred to the verbal mind as the conscious and mistakenly referred to it as the consciousness. So we wrongly call the nonverbal mind the unconscious. Nothing could be more wrong. The nonverbal mind is actually super conscious.  Buda said that the abilities of this super conscious were endless. It can achieve anything; it is only a matter of time.

So from now on we will call the unconscious the super conscious. I apologize for any misunderstanding or ambiguities
